People can be easily influenced if they are lead to believe that supporting a motion will benefit, not only them, but also society. Incentives allow people to be predictable; the choices people make can be manipulated by facts or even emotions.
The people who care about the planet wants its people to care about it as well, and the only way to get through, our now thick heads, is to appeal in a way that moves us. Part of being a member of this earth is to keep it running long for our future generations, not to ruin it and expect the ones that come after us to fix it. Not All is Good For Goodall explains key factors of corporations feeding consumers, by telling them what they want. People really need to think for themselves in order to survive and keep surviving. One thing societies, cities, or nations can agree on is that justice should be prioritized. Justice does not only apply to human beings, justice should also be served to the countless whales and dolphins being killed for their meat. Damned Dolphins summarizes the acts done by the people of Taiji and how the people kill for their “culture.” Incentives are different by culture, but sometimes cultural norms aren’t always the brightest. The Japanese can celebrate their culture all they want, but the dolphin meat they provide for their people contains such high mercury levels that in return the people are harming themselves. Now isn’t it an incentive to, not only stop the violent disregard for animals, but also stop these people from poisoning themselves? It is people like the WDCs incentive to put a stop to the captivity of such intelligent creatures. They seek out information that should play with people’s emotions. Freedom stresses the factors of separation of mothers and their children, an emotional way of getting attention, but factual evidence is present to support the argument. If it is immoral to take away a mother’s child, why should it be okay if you do that to animals? Organizations understand that they are there so people can be wise about subjects they don’t even think about. Extinction talks about entire species being wiped out because exposure to such topics is not understood widely. It is people like me, or PETA, or WDCs incentive to inform the public about pretty much broad daylight murder, and it is the people’s incentive to decide whether this year they take their family to the Seaworld jail, or to support the freedom.Economics Per. 2

Heavy Metal Culture
I have never really understood why people enjoy listening to the screamo, hard metal guitar type of music in their free time, so I decided to see what people had to say about it. I found that there really is a sort of comfort that the people listening to this type of music have, it is much more than just music to them it is a sort of lifestyle. The author Shaunacy Ferro is a journalist who decided to take a deep look into the psychology of those who listen to heavy metal she wrote this article “Psychology Of Loving Heavy Metal” at http://www.popsci.com/article/science/psychology-loving-heavy-metal.
Out of all the music you could possibly listen to you might ask why would one find heavy metal to be the most appealing? According to the article the fans of heavy metal have “their need for uniqueness, their self-esteem, attitudes toward authority and religiosity,” they listen to this music because it makes them feel empowered that someone finally gets them going against the norm of everybody else. It was also brought up that “heavy metal was also correlated with openness, possibly because people with more open personalities would be drawn [this] music,” showing how these people just want to express themselves and they feel the most comfortable doing it with those who also enjoy this sort of rebel music.
In conclusion from researching why people tend to like different kinds of music there seems to be certain reasons for this kind of trend. There is psychology behind why people like these different kinds because it makes them feel comfortable and it makes them feel part of a group they fit into. Music helps people express themselves in anyway that they please.

ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE: All choices have an opportunity cost
THESIS (CONNECT ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE WITH YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION): After researching, I have found that it is more beneficial for me to join a fraternity because the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Either choice has an opportunity cost because neither option is perfect
SYNTHESIS PARAGRAPH: Throughout my research, I found many interesting facts and learned a lot about fraternities and greek life. I have decided it is more beneficial for me to join a frat. When going back through my research, I found many recurring positives that many authors mentioned. In one of the articles I read, the author states that “one of the most obvious benefits of fraternities and sororities are the friendships, brother/sisterhoods and connections that come with being a member. The friends that you gain during your time at a fraternity or sorority are usually lifelong and the connections can you give you an advantage over your competition when you enter the job market.” My brother has told me this as well. My brother is always telling stories about his friends at his frat house. When I visit him, I talk to a lot of his friends and they are all very nice to me and funny. Also, throughout my research, I have learned that joining a fraternity will help me in the future because I can put it on my resume and it shows leadership skills. One of the articles I read stated that “when applying for a job, you can put your fraternity on your resume which will help you get the job. Most businesses believe that fraternities produce responsible members of society.” If I join a fraternity, then it could help me in the future. Another common positive I saw throughout was philanthropy. One of the authors stated that “most chapters find involvement in some sort of community service project or philanthropic endeavor, and many chapters have leadership positions dedicated to this aspect of Greek life.” Not only are greek organizations having fun but also giving back to the community. In conclusion, I have listed many positives of joining a fraternity. I did not list any negatives because after researching, I have discovered that the positives outweigh the negatives and that I am going to join a fraternity.
Snap, Crackle, Pop

ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE: People gain when they trade voluntarily.
THESIS (CONNECT ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE WITH YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION): The rush of adrenaline is what keeps the thrill of people going on a daily basis. People and players engage in the sport of football because of the exciting yet violent plays and hits. Although the thrill is exhilarating, the outcome of these hits are more than fatal, yet we continue to feed off others danger.
SYNTHESIS PARAGRAPH:
Snap, crackle pop. The sport of football has caught the attention of America’s sports fanatics and has overtaken the popularity of AMerica’s pastime, baseball. But why has that happened? Here, to be simple, the plays, scores and tackles. We all love a great 45 yard interception and a SAC, but, do we really understand the seriousness of what the rough plays outcomes are? Dr. Bennet Omalu. A forensic pathologist, Omalu conducted the autopsy of Pittsburgh Steelers center Mike Webster, which led to his discovery of a new disease that he named chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. Massive hits and tackles over time and especially with consistent hits and blows to the brain, cause the interlobe of the cranial cavity to soften, and the tissue that protects the brain from the skull is slowly deteriorating. This is where CTE falls into place, over time, after the brain has endured so many hits, the tissue is worn away and leaving the brain open to this disease. CTE causes insomnia, schizophrenia, Bi- polar disorder, PTSD, etc. bout 324, former NFL players have been diagnosed with this disease, for example Mike Webster who played for Pittsburgh Steelers, went insane and killed himself. He had complained of, voices in his head and seeing things that weren't really there. You might say, “But wait?”, how do we know if that was really caused by this disease. ALl players who have been diagnosed, endured more than 4 concussions , at least 2 severe throughout their career as NFL athletes and have no prior, self or family history of mental disorders that they were complaining of. The scientists that were hired by the NFL, after the public was addressed the problem of severe ongoing concussions, said in a statement, simply that CTE is not caused by the sport of football and that there is no possible way that any player, with the helmets they wear could develop such a disorder. However, the NFL didn't want them to quit and lose fans. They wanted to be so precise and lie to their fans until they believed every word that the NFL wanted them to hear. This sport is extremely dangerous and I don't think the fans understand the severity of the game and the possible life threatening risks that trail it all for our satisfaction.

How am I going to fit in? How will I focus on my work? How can I have a better time? These are common questions I will have to consider when deciding to join a fraternity or not. In an article written by Ralph Heibutzki who writes for a credible news source talks about the positives and negatives of joining a frat. He has helped me understand that I can’t go wrong with deciding to join a frat or not.
First he lists the positives. The first one is having a chance to network. He says “The opportunity to network is a key motivator for participating in Greek life. Joining an established, business-oriented fraternity like Alpha Kappa Psi, founded in 1904, gives members a taste of the real world through presentations and team-building activities, "Bloomberg Businessweek" reports.” He is trying to say that fraternities get kids involved and socially connected with people. Another positive is leadership experience. He says “Greek life also offers students a chance to develop their leadership skills. Participating in the organizational affairs of a fraternity or sorority builds students' collaboration and problem-solving skills that can help them later in their professional careers.” He is saying that people can develop certain skills in a frat which can help them succeed in life. The last positive he mentioned was lifelong friendships which is pretty self explanatory.
He also lists some negatives. The first one is public perception. He says “The prevailing image of fraternities and sororities is one associated with heavy drinking and controversial hazing incidents, which have often prompted harsh crackdowns. In extreme cases, fraternities have been booted off campuses nationwide, forcing members to arrange alternate housing, "The Indiana Daily Student" reports.” He is saying that frats are often known to be filled with self centered kids who like to drink a lot and it creates a bad reputation especially if your frat gets in trouble. Another negative is social and financial obligations. He says “Many students are not prepared for the social and financial obligations that come with Greek life. Besides membership dues and the cost of housing, students may rack up additional expenses through penalty fees, or having to absorb the cost of unsold tickets from Greek-related charitable events, "Her Campus" magazine reports. Brothers and sisters are also expected to attend relevant functions like Greek Week events, and pledging activities, which runs the risk of overshadowing their academic life.” He is saying that greek life can be distracting and there is a lot of time and work you need to put in. Should the BPL implement a playoff
Economical Principal: Incentives are the key to success and failure.
Thesis: People’s response to incentives are affected by costs, benefits, and money
Synthesis Paragraph: Incentives are the best thing for a certain company because it gives that company or in this case team a reason to work hard. Everything in this world is built on and run by money. So when a team has a chance to make more money, they will do everything to keep getting more and more. So a playoff like this shows how incentives are present in this situation and topic. The opportunity cost of not making the playoffs would be not making more profits, and as history has shown us, money buys a successful team most of the time, so that is super important for teams to do. The Incentive to stay in the BPL is also there because if you get demoted, then you lose fans and make less money which would be super tough for teams to make money again and get a good team. How these teams respond to the incentives will make this a very competitive league.

Planned Parenthood's providence to American women and our economy
| Source: media.fyre.co |
ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE: All Choices Have An Opportunity Cost
THESIS (CONNECT ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE WITH YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION): In the event that a women must choose better (connotation: more expensive) health care or a better education for her child, she will most likely choose what will affect not herself, but her child - the opportunity cost being that she may not receive the health benefits that will in turn benefit her as a low-income woman; Planned Parenthood provides necessary and affordable services for women, most of low-income, and those choices to provide has an opportunity cost - hatred or denial from mostly conservative outlets.
SYNTHESIS PARAGRAPH:
In this class we have studied the factors of poverty, and a few in particular remind me of this topic. First, lack of applicable health care is obviously a problem to women today. A conservative view is to remain completely abstinent, eliminate use of birth control or other contraceptives, and only allow abortion procedures when it is rape, incest, or harm towards the mother due to the child. Yet, contemporarily, it’s hardly an argument to remain abstinent, and to completely disregard the teenagers that will engage in sexual relations proves, at least to me, childish and unprofessional. One statistic that stood out to me during this research is that “63 percent of women reported birth control had allowed them to take better care of themselves or their families, and 56 percent said it allowed them to take care of themselves financially,” which I found during my sixth post. This can be beneficial towards to economic side of the political spectrum; more money spent by low-income Americans, more money put back into the system, economy boosts, and all is fine. This is one argument I will never understand the conservatives are not at least a little on board with. Even large spending now (“$5.28 million last year… more than 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s total $1.3 billion in revenue last year,” according to my first post) can provide for a large scale influx of funds towards to government from the social status climbing women whom have been helped from Planned Parenthood. In all, to answer my first and overarching question, Planned Parenthood spends their government-funded money on their many other services besides abortion (thanks to Title X, that deems illegal), and a defunding can place American women back further into poverty, decrease the nation’s social mobility, and can hurt our economy by not having the funds from the patrons of PP. Go figure.
