Planned Parenthood's providence to American women and our economy

ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE:  All Choices Have An Opportunity Cost

THESIS (CONNECT ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE WITH YOUR ANSWER TO YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION): In the event that a women must choose better (connotation: more expensive) health care or a better education for her child, she will most likely choose what will affect not herself, but her child - the opportunity cost being that she may not receive the health benefits that will in turn benefit her as a low-income woman; Planned Parenthood provides necessary and affordable services for women, most of low-income, and those choices to provide has an opportunity cost - hatred or denial from mostly conservative outlets.

SYNTHESIS PARAGRAPH:
In this class we have studied the factors of poverty, and a few in particular remind me of this topic. First, lack of applicable health care is obviously a problem to women today. A conservative view is to remain completely abstinent, eliminate use of birth control or other contraceptives, and only allow abortion procedures when it is rape, incest, or harm towards the mother due to the child. Yet, contemporarily, it’s hardly an argument to remain abstinent, and to completely disregard the teenagers that will engage in sexual relations proves, at least to me, childish and unprofessional. One statistic that stood out to me during this research is that “63 percent of women reported birth control had allowed them to take better care of themselves or their families, and 56 percent said it allowed them to take care of themselves financially,” which I found during my sixth post. This can be beneficial towards to economic side of the political spectrum; more money spent by low-income Americans, more money put back into the system, economy boosts, and all is fine. This is one argument I will never understand the conservatives are not at least a little on board with. Even large spending now (“$5.28 million last year… more than 40 percent of Planned Parenthood’s total $1.3 billion in revenue last year,” according to my first post) can provide for a large scale influx of funds towards to government from the social status climbing women whom have been helped from Planned Parenthood. In all, to answer my first and overarching question, Planned Parenthood spends their government-funded money on their many other services besides abortion (thanks to Title X, that deems illegal), and a defunding can place American women back further into poverty, decrease the nation’s social mobility, and can hurt our economy by not having the funds from the patrons of PP. Go figure.
