ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE: Because of scarcity, people choose. All choices have an opportunity cost.
THESIS :People are aware of their poor and possibly damaging eating habits, but those people are also afraid that the steps that need to be taken in order to improve their lifestyles might result in more money from their paycheck. Due to the scarcity of money, people choose to not make a change.
SYNTHESIS PARAGRAPH: Health is not something that you can choose to care about or not care about. It is what keeps you moving and functioning in the ways that you are supposed. If given the chance to change the way you treat your health in a positive way, why wouldn’t you take it? One of the simplest ways to do this is changing the way that you eat. Throughout my research, I found so many simple ways to change the way that you treat your body that are not difficult. The problem that people have with changing their diet is the toll that they think it will take on their wallets. This is where the economic principle of scarcity plays a role. What people do not understand is the fact that you are doing yourself a disservice by putting things into your body that will cost you more in the future. Dr. Alejandro Junger http://blog.cleanprogram.com/isnt-clean-eating-expensive/ spoke specifically about how much people complain about how clean eating causes you to stretch your wallet. In order to combat these complaints, he explained that if your body is not treated correctly, your medical costs for the future will far outweigh the cost of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eating a clean diet is a lifestyle choice and people need to understand that the benefits that they will receive from making a dietary switch will far outweigh the costs, not only from a health standpoint, but also from a financial standpoint.
