Now You Know

Before I started eating a cleaner diet, I was constantly sluggish. I always felt like I never had enough energy to take on the day without sneaking in an hour nap sometime during the day. I didn’t feel like myself normally energy-filled self. Most people who feel this way are more likely to grab the energy drink or the caffeine filled coffee instead of stopping to think about what they are shoving into their mouths. A large percentage of the population does not realize how big of an impact your diet can have on your physical health. It took me going to a nutritionist to realize that I was not getting the daily intake that I needed in order to be totally fulfilled. To save you the trip to the doctor’s, I am going to provide you with some of the signs that show you a red flag in your diet.
According to health author Sarah Adler, http://simplyrealhealth.com/2013/06/13/12-warning-signs-you-need-a-healthy-makeover-asap/, there are 12 ways to tell that you need a new diet as soon as possible. She proceeds the list by explaining that diet changes should not feel impossible. She explains that diet changes should be, “band-aid quick fixes,” in order to make the transition more comfortable for the people making changes. In order to see that you need to make changes to your own diet, evaluate whether or not any of these signals apply to you.

  1. Stomach Pain: If you are feeling discomfort or bloating after you eat on a regular basis.
  2. Added Energy: You feel as if you need to consume an energy drink or a surplus of caffeine in order to generate energy.
  3. Trouble Sleeping: You feel as if you are never well-rested. You have trouble getting out of bed in the morning.
  4. Cravings: If you regularly have cravings for things like sugars or salts. This is normally a day-to-day issue.
  5. Lather Up: Your skin is very dry. Normally means that your body is not getting enough hydration or nutrients, leaving the body dry and cracked.
  6. Achey: There is a dietary problem if you are constantly having aches and pains, resulting in an increased amount of Advil or other painkiller intake.
  7. Sick: If you are getting sick very often, you are not getting the kinds of nutrients you need in order to strengthen your immune system.

All of the symptoms above were things that I was experiencing on a regular basis. In order to live a happier and healthier lifestyle, you must first make sure that the foods that you are putting into your body are foods that will allow you to work at your full potential.
