What are the NFL Players thinking about the risk of brain injuries?

- The problem is even more insidious and dangerous if you consider that almost 50% of athletes who have suffered a concussive blow do not report any symptoms.
- In the wake of the NFL's 2013 $765M settlement in a concussion lawsuit brought by former players suffering from the long-term consequences of repeated head trauma, the league appears to be taking the risks and dangers of brain injuries more seriously.
- To make matters worse, even when players experience symptoms, they are unlikely to report their concerns.
Football is a beloved American sport, with a heavy cash flow that leads back to the American Past time. The Super Bowl which is the most watched sporting event ever watches brings in fans from all of the country. Tickets this year went for as much as $5 million and spectators were willing to pay $4,600 for game day tickets at secondary merchants.
The Players of the NFL, when having a concussion, often times do NOT report symptoms to trainers or coaches. I feel as if, players are doing this because they, do not see what anybody can do about it,and that only time will take to heal the injury, not sitting out of the game. However, the NFL recieved only 111 reports of concussions in the 2015 season. This is because all of those came from plays where the game was stopped because the player needed medical assistance and to be taken of the field by paramedics and physicians. However there are plenty of unreported accidents that just float by, why? Because the players dont speak up. As the NFL’s offers have grown, the league has increasingly been able to deflect some of the concerns over the impact the game has had on the health of players by expanding its influence on research. If the NFL continued to raise awareness and fund the program to remove players with traumatic brain injuries, the league might lose fans. This is because if a good player were to lose one of their top players, fans might lose interest.
I overall believe that the NFL (corporate, coaches, scientists, physical training specialists, etc) especially the players need to do as much as they can in order to help stop the ongoing problem of concussions and do as much as they can to ban all severe injury causing plays.
