Celebrities Mark the Trend

Do you have a favorite celebrity? Maybe it’s Kylie Jenner, Beyonce, or a classic idol like Marilyn Monroe, if you do they influence your style and are the ones creating the fashion trends. Celebrities are the main source of starting and keeping a trend,  and the article titled “Why Do Celebrities Influence Fashion Trends?” written by Phoebe Alexander, a top writer for stylefair.com and fashion enthusiast, talks all about this. This article talks about how celebrities have a huge influence on society, and therefore can create trends or maintain them.
Celebrities are constantly going to big premieres, fashion shows, and red carpet events so these events are the key to making a fashion trend. Phoebe Alexander says “Any event, in which there is something called a “red carpet”, may be one of these important fashion forming events. One example of such an event is the Emmys. Another example is the Grammies. These are usually events at which some celebrities receive awards.” , these events are where celebrities can take fashion risks and start new trends. I know I’m not alone when I say that the only reason I watch these events are to see the outfits and new fashion trends. Taking a stroll back in time to red carpet events, I can think of many crazy trends that became iconic because celebrities wore them. From Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears all denim design, to Beyonce’s glitter outfits. These celebrities started the trends at these events and made them popular.
After reading this article I found it really interesting that celebrities have such a strong influence on fashion trends, and that they are ultimately the ones who create them and promote them.
Future Research: I plan on researching the economic factor and effect it has on fashion trends.

  1. I think your quotes really stress your idea about how celebrities influence one's fashion and I like how you also include how it influences specifically young girls. Maybe just change the title of your blog post name.

  2. I thought your article was well thought out and meaningful to you. Some advice I would give would be another article talking about the topic, then adding a creative title to your blog post. But really nice job on the article it was very interesting to read.

  3. Content: I liked how you used examples from the real world. ex: Grammies and Emmys. This reminded me of when I watch these shows and the seeing all the exotic clothes they wear on the red carpet.
