There is no doubt that organic products are more expensive, but it's worth the price. Natasha Burton wrote the article, Why Organic Products Can Be More Expensive—But Are Worth , about the different reasons organic beauty products are more expensive. She mentions at the end of each statement why these organic products are worth the cost compared to chemical filled products.
She is reliable because she cites multiple different sources on the information she provides. She is a writer for the website StyleCaster.
When you go to the store, looking at the different products on the shelf, organic products tend to have a much higher price than a generic or name brand products that isn't organic. One of the reasons that these products are more expensive, is because they do not have a long shelf life. They have a shorter shelf life because “ the pure ingredients used versus the chemicals used in drugstore brands”. These pure ingredients do not last as long as other products because they “ have naturally limited “life” and break down after a while.”. This means that unlike chemical products, the product itself does not work as well over time. However, it is worth the price because The products are fresher than others. Chemical filled products have a longer shelf life because they don't break down after a while. Using an organic product instead will have a shorter shelf life but the product itself will be fresher.
Another reason these products are more expensive than others are because of the products are made in smaller quantities. Organic products are made in “ small batches, driving up cost” because they don't have the capability of making the product in mass quantities. They can't buy the fresh ingredients in large quantities, they have to buy them in smaller quantities because they will be fresh and higher quality. Producing the ingredients necessary for the product takes more time. Farmers who don't use “ the chemicals and growth hormones used by conventional farmers,” need more time to grow their crops because they are using the chemicals that cause crops to grow faster. This is what makes the products organic and it drives up the price because it takes time to produce a quality product. The cost of organic products are worth it because a shorter shelf life and less batches mean that you are purchasing products that are fresh.
